The Valley City High School boys basketball team has had its ups and downs this season, with many of the peaks and valleys related to the team's shooting percentage.
It remained the case Tuesday at the Hi-Liner Activity Center, where the Hi-Liners struggled to find much of an offensive rhythm in an 82-42 loss to No. 1-ranked Red River.
VCSU Basketball Travels to Jamestown
The Valley City State University basketball teams continue their rivalry with Jamestown today at the Jamestown Civic Center.
The No. 19 Vikings and Jimmies play starting at 5:30 p.m., when the women's game tips off. The mens game starts at 7:30 p.m.
The mens teams from the schools have split the season series at 1-1 this year, with Valley City winning at home last week. The Viking women lost 81-64 to the Jimmies last week in their only meeting of the season.
In the last few years, the Jamestown High School girls hockey team, which has several players from Valley City, has worked to help Relay for Life, and tomorrow night the team kicks off its latest fundraising effort when it hosts a week-long community scavenger hunt.
The hunt will kick off on Wednesday and will end with teams bringing their items in on Feb. 13 at the Eagles Arena Hockey Rink in Jamestown.

CASSELTON — For the last two years, the No. 4 Maple Valley High School girls basketball team has operated like a well-oiled machine.
The formula essentially comes down to Rylee Nudell setting the tone with plenty of points in the paint, then getting a bit of assistance from a deep supporting cast.
But Thursday at Central Cass, the home Squirrels threw a wrench into the equation, putting Nudell at a major size disadvantage, then keeping her guards from getting open looks in a 54-34 loss for the Raiders.
