Fridayâ€™s Eastern Dakota Conference Indoor Championships at North Dakota State were a promising display of Hi-Liner athleticism.
â€śSetting 12 new personal records at the EDC Indoor was a reputable way to end the indoor season,â€ť Hi-Liner head coach Trevor Bakalar said.
â€śBekah Peterson had another good meet and continues to look strong as we move to our outdoor season. Bekah placed fifth in her first 400m run of the season and set a new personal record with a time of 1:08.22. In the Triple Jump her distance of 31 feet, 3.5 inches placed her seventh.â€ť
Viking and Jamestown baseball cancelled their weekend series and will play a Tuesday doubleheader at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., the first game of which begins at 11 a.m.
The games will be broadcast live on KQDJ 1400 AM and newsdakota.com.
Softball cancelled their weekend games against Jamestown as well; their next games are a 2 p.m.-and-4 p.m. Wednesday doubleheader at Mayville
Hi-Liner Track & Field came away with seven new personal bests in Fridayâ€™s Eastern Dakota Conference Indoor Championships at North Dakota State.
Sophomore John Halgrimson set his own Shot Put record with a heave of 40 feet, 6 inches for 12th place to break his previous mark of 38 feet, 3.5 inches. He improved his personal 60 Meter Dash mark to 7.49 seconds from 7.56 seconds, his 24.25-second 200 Meter Dash earned him eighth place, and his 18-foot, 9.75-inch Long Jump earned him 10th.
â€śI just go,â€ť said Halgrimson of his routines. â€śIf I think too much I get shaky, so I just go.â€ť
The Josh DeBuck Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will take place at the Montpelier School Gym on May 3.
Tournament brackets include 5th and 6th Grade, 7th and 8th Grade, 9th and 10th Grade and 11th and 12th Grade divisions.
9th through 12th will combine if entries are limited.
April 26 is the entry deadline, $40 per team. All proceeds benefit the Montpelier Athletic Department.

Valley City State baseballâ€™s Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders at Jamestown have been moved to Sunday and Monday in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn.
VCSU and Jamestown enter a Sunday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Fargo Southâ€™s Bennett Elementary Field.
Mondayâ€™s doubleheader begins at 11:30 a.m. at Concordia College in Moorhead.
Weather and field conditions may further alter this weekendâ€™s schedule.
Valley City State golf was scheduled to play at Dickinson this weekend and in Jamestown next weekend until Monday nightâ€™s flash blizzard delayed both invites.
As a result, Dickinson State will host a one-day meet on April 13, and Jamestown will host their meet April 21 and 22 at the Jamestown Country Club.
Valley City Express wrestling featured 27 competitors at March 29â€™s USA Wrestling State Folkstyle Tournament in Bismarck, of whom 17 placed as Express was crowned North Dakota State Folkstyle Small Team points champions.
Small Teams are clubs with 30 or fewer wrestlers.
â€śBy our calculations, this was the most wrestlers we have ever had participate in the end-of-the-year State Tournament,â€ť Express coach Aaron Larson said.

2. Junior High Track will be going to Wahpeton for the Indoor meet on Friday
3. Varsity and JV Track is off to NDSU for the Indoor Meet on Friday
4. Varsity and Junior High baseball vs Devils Lake on April 4
has been moved to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 8 at Devils Lake
5 Practices times and locations may change due to the snow;
changes will be communicated to students via coaches
