Valley City Thunder Football registration enters its 14th year and registers on a first-come, first-serve basis for Fall 2014 5th- and 6th-graders interested in participating in organized tackle football.
1. Mail a completed Thunder Football Registration Form with a check to

2. Turn in a completed Thunder Registration date on Wednesday, May 21 between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activities Center (HAC) lobby
Thunder Footballâ€™s registration deadline is June 30.

Hi-Liner softball celebrated four seniors in Tuesdayâ€™s regular season finale, an 11-0 Parents Night win over Fargo South in advance of Thursdayâ€™s 5 p.m. Eastern Dakota Conference Tournament matchup against the very same Bruins.
â€śItâ€™ll be tougher to replace four seniors [Dierra Diegel, Danica Diegel, Jessica Denholm and Paula Andel],â€ť said Valley City head coach Jason Lindgren of his graduating leaders. â€śBut we have sophomores [Hannah Meyer, Heather Knutson, Kaylee Schlittenhardt, Brenna Dieterle and Tarryn Justesen] moving up.â€ť
Jamestown Country Club will host the Jamestown Optimist Junior Golf Championship at 9 a.m. Friday, June 6.
Free registration begins at 8 a.m. Boys divisions are open to ages 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18. Girls divisions welcome ages 10-12, 13-14 and 15-18.
Winners qualify for June 22â€™s District Tournament at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell, Minn.
Prizes are awarded, and all golfers enjoy lunch.

Hi-Liner baseball completed the season over the weekend with a 9-5 loss to Northern Cass and a 13-1 five-inning fall to Hillsboro/Central Valley on Friday before host Devils Lake took both of Saturdayâ€™s games, 4-2 and 9-0.
Valley City finished 0-18 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 1-23 overall.

Valley City Tennis Association hosted its annual USTA Tennis Block Party May 7 at the Valley City Recreation Center, where youth and adults played tennis games and received prizes.
Valley City Parks and Recreation, Valley City State Club Tennis, Young Peopleâ€™s Healthy Heart Program of Mercy Hospital and Valley City High School Tennis sponsored the event.
No. 3 Regional seed Hi-Liner girls tennis won a trip to State on Thursday in Grand Forks, N.D., and will face West No. 2 Bismarck Century in Thursdayâ€™s first round at the Bismarck/Mandan Area Tennis Courts.
Valley City took the No. 3 East seed with a 4-1 first-round win over No. 6 Fargo North, a 2-3 second-round setback to No. 2 West Fargo, and a 3-2 State Qualifier triumph over No. 5 Fargo Shanley.
Top seed Grand Forks Red River took the East championship, 5-0, over West Fargo.
Valley City State sophomore Jessica Meland will compete in the Hammer Throw at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, May 22-24 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Meland, of Harvey, N.D., qualified with a school-record throw of 50.29 meters (164 feet, 11 inches), which put her 16th in a field of 27 National Championship throwers, at April 18â€™s Northern State Invitational in Aberdeen, S.D.
Hi-Liner softball won two of five games between Friday and Saturday, losing 8-7 to Fargo Davies at home on Friday before trouncing Grand Forks Red River 11-0 in six innings and 11-5 at home before falling 5-1 and 12-2 in five innings at West Fargo on Saturday.

Freshman Taylor Johnson is the MVP, junior Abby Brown the Most Dedicated, sophomore Brienne Roehrich has the Best Attitude, and Hannah Sorensen is the Hardest Worker.
Valley City won the Eastern Dakota Conference team championship and took eighth with 136.050 points (35.483 Vault, 31.450 Bars, 33.567 Beam and 35.550 Floor), the best performance of any East Region team, at Feb. 28-March 1â€™s State Meet in Bismarck, N.D.
