Kentucky played host to SEC league door matt Auburn and appropriately blew them out of the gym. Kentucky used a 23-2 run in the first half to break open a 27 point first half lead. They never looked back as Auburn never seriously threatened again. Karl Anthony Towns led Kentucky with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Kentucky came out and took care of business against one of the SEC cellar dwellers. The Wildcats opened up a 25 point lead before the half was over and then put in in cruise control for the second half. Willie Cauley-Stein led the balanced scoring effort by Kentucky with 14 points.

The Arizona Wildcats traveled to Tempe to face in state rival Arizona State for what they expected to be an easy game. Arizona State came into the game at the bottom of the PAC 12 at 3-6 in conference play. The Sun Devils came out firing as they shot 50% from the field (26/52) and 46.7% from 3 (7/15). Guard Bo Barnes paced the Sun Devils with 18 points including a perfect 8 for 8 from the charity stripe.

Friday night, the Valley City Hi-Liner boys basketball team defeated the Grand Forks Knights, moving Valley City into ninth place in the Eastern Dakota Conference.

The Hi-Liner Girls Basketball team won a thriller against the Devils Lake Firebirds, 55-53 for a two-point Eastern Dakota Conference basketball game Tuesday night in Devils Lake. More in Thursday's Times-Record.
Tuesday, it took two overtimes for the Valley City Hi-Liner boys basketball team to fall to the Devils Lake Firebirds, 83-80.
