Senior setter Jessica Denholm served 53 assists on the weekend. Junior setter / defensive specialist Samantha Coit added six more.
Junior middle hitter Clarisa Olson racked up 33 kills, Senior outside / right hitter Madison Taylor spiked 28 and Dierra Diegel 26.
Senior middle hitter Danica Diegel provided eight blocks, Olson four and Taylor 3.
Olson swooped in for 62 digs, Dierra Diegel 49 and Danica Diegel 47.
Viking volleyball opened its home schedule with a 3-1 victory Monday night over Bismarck State College.
The Vikings (4-7) handed the Mystics (9-1) their first loss of the season, 25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-16.
Middle hitter Aurissa Martens led the Vikings with 10 kills and Alley Theroux added eight as VCSU picked up its fourth win of the season and second win in a row.
Stephanie Miller led the Vikings with 20 assists and Anna Neufeld added 15 more. Rachel Hummel totaled seven kills and two blocks.
Bismarck State was led by Madison Deibert with 13 kills.
Hi-Liner football faced a tough opener on Friday night as they hosted Dickinson, a team with 18 seniors â€” among them 10 offensive and defensive linemen, and six wide receivers â€” to Valley City's nine.
Dickinson's senior experience made the difference as the Midgets scored 41 points in the first half en route to a 48-0 win at Hanna Field. The Hi-Liners committed three turnovers â€” a fumble and two interceptions â€” on the night.
Valley City State swept the first North Star Athletic Association weekly football honors, the NSAA announced Monday.Â The Vikings, an NAIA Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll team, defeated Jamestown 31-14 in the annual Paint Bucket rivalry game.
VCSU junior linebacker Austin Flores is the Defensive Player of the Week, having recorded four solo tackles and assisted eight tackles, and had an interception and two forced fumbles in the game.
Rain clouds loomed over Jamestown's Taylor Stadium as Valley City State came to reclaim the Paint Bucket trophy in the 52nd installment of the rivalry with the Jimmies.

Perennial tennis championship contender Grand Forks Red River visited Valley City for an Eastern Dakota Conference match on Thursday amid a week of heat-induced schedule changes.
Red River took the match, 9-0, though Hi-Liner head coach Matt Nielson was impressed with his team's efforts.
"Red River is Red River," Nielson said. "They haven't won the state championship 14 consecutive time because they are lucky â€” they are the best in the state. Their No. 1's to No. 4's all have the talent to win the state championship.Â Their No. 5, (Andrew) Godon, took 5th in the state last year."
The Valley City State football team has announced its team captains for the 2013 season.
The Vikings named Matt Craft and Jake Miller as new team captains to join Jake Thurston and George Trujillo, who were named team captains following spring practice.
Craft is a senior defensive lineman from Fairbanks, Alaska, who recorded 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season. Miller, a junior tight end from Rolla, N.D., had eight catches for 75 yards last season and is expected to play a much bigger role in 2013.
Viking golf opened the season Wednesday with a solid showing at the University of Jamestown Open on the 6,637-yard, Par-72 Hillcrest Golf Course.
Four Vikings placed in the Top 10, led by Haley Christofferson, who shot a 90 for sixth place in the women's division. Alyssa Tait carded a 101 to finish 11th.
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks held off the Amarillo Sox to clinch the 2013 American Association North Division title with a 11-7 victory Tuesday at Newman Outdoor Field.
Tim Alberts, Keith Brachold and Ronnie Bourquin each had three hits and played a role in big innings for Fargo-Moorhead (59-35).
