Comets End Vikings Season

May 6, 2013

Last Friday, May 3, was a much better day for baseball. The wind wasn't quite as harsh and there was sunshine that at least gave the comfort of being warm. The Vikings played the Mayville State Comets in the noon game for a shot at the championship game against the Jamestown College Jimmies at 3:30 p.m., Friday, at Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown.

12 Innings Weren't Enough

May 2, 2013

The NAIA Unaffiliated Baseball Tournament started Wednesday, and the first game was a barnburner. The Valley City State University Vikings took on the Dakota State Trojans. The Trojans came into the tournament seeded #5, and Vikings #4.
The morning game began quietly. A strong wind came in from right field, but had little affect on hitters later in the game. The Trojans scored once in the second inning, and again in the fourth. The Vikings put a run on the board in the bottom of the fourth, and then in the fifth, all heck broke loose with the bats.
