As far as Maple Valley High School coach Jeff Miller is concerned, there are few post players with the offensive skill set of Rylee Nudell.
"When she gets the ball facing the basket, there are not too many people out there who can stop her," Miller said about the freshman, who scored her 1,000th point earlier this month. "She's got an extremely explosive first step, so she can get by that one defender, and if that help-side defense isn't there right away, and even if it is there, she can maneuver herself around them to make the layup, and a lot of times get fouled in the process."

When the Valley City High School gymnastics teams had its first home meet of the week Tuesday, Taylor Johnson and Rebekah Fisher kept their scores close.
Thursday, as the Hi-Liners hosted their final home meet of the regular season, a triangular with Fargo and Davies, it wasn't much different.
Johnson got the better score in the floor, Fisher narrowly had the better score on the beam and vault. The two even finished the day with a tie on the bars, scoring 8.2 each.

Entering the first day of the 2012 Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, Valley City High School coach Jim McDaniel had his team focus heavily on both fundamentals and staying consistent with them throughout the game.
By the end of the Hi-Liners’ 62-22 tournament opening win over Barnes County North, he was pleased.
“I thought all four quarters, we offensively did what we were supposed to do. We ran our offenses,” McDaniel said. “Defensively, I thought we did a nice job pressuring the ball, making it hard for them to make it for them to get good, easy looks.”
