As the Valley City State University softball team swept a double-header Tuesday against the University of Minnesota - Crookston, there was plenty of excitement over the two wins.
But at times, third baseman Jane Pettit admits she was momentarily caught off guard.
Standing on second base, Pettit would catch a glimpse of the Vikingsâ dugout and find herself getting a bit emotional.
âSometimes you just catch yourself having one of those moments where you just look at them and youâre like âIâm going to miss this,ââ Pettit said.

VCHS golf team takes 4th
The Valley City High School boys golf team took fourth place in a tournament with other Eastern Dakota Conference teams Tuesday at the Village Green Golf Course in Moorhead, Minn.
The Hi-Liners finished with a team score of 319, only eight strokes behind Red River. West Fargo won the meet with a score of 290.
Individually, Nick Jenson led the Hi-Liners with a score of 74, which finished him in a tie for seventh place.

McBride named DAC pitcher of the week
Valley City State University pitcher Katie McBride was named the Dakota Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week Monday.
McBride, a senior from Grand Rapids, Minn., went 3-1 as the Vikings were 5-1 on the week. In her four outings, McBride pitched 26.2 innings, giving up seven runs, three earned, on 26 hits with 15 strikeouts and five walks.
It is the the second time this season McBride has been chosen as the DAC Pitcher of the Week.
