FARGO — Six North Dakota State University football seniors were put to the test before pro scouts representing seven National Football League teams in the Fargodome on Wednesday, March 21.
“It’s an opportunity for these seniors to really measure their physical skills. They’re gaining a great deal of exposure, which is good for them and good for NDSU,” said head football coach Craig Bohl, who led the program to the 2011 NCAA FCS Championship in January.
Former North Dakota State University head football coach, assistant football coach and athletic director Ron Erhardt passed away Wednesday. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be posted when available.
Erhardt was the head coach of seven Bison football teams that won six North Central Conference championships, completed three undefeated seasons (1968, 1969 and 1970), and won two College Division national crowns (1968 and 1969).
By the casual runner’s standards, the low 70 degree temperatures at Shelly Ellig Field Wednesday would have been a bit much.
But just before 4:30 p.m., the Valley City High School boys and girls track and field teams went out in full force.
On the turf in the football field’s sidelines, the distance runners finished another run and took a quick breather, watching the sprinters do quick laps around the track. Off in the distance, the field athletes are taking turns throwing.
