ROGERS — Of all the area basketball teams, none got a longer winter break than the Maple Valley High School boys.
Until Saturday's 66-46 win at Barnes County North, it had been nearly three weeks since the team took the floor in a 56-41 win against North Sargent Dec. 17.
So while it wasn't a picture perfect start in the first game back, the Raiders eventually settled in by the second half to run away with the win.
The Valley City High School girls basketball team had a tough start in Friday’s 44-43 home win against Wahpeton.
Heading into halftime, the team trailed 21-18, but only one player, Jenna Jacob, had more than three points.
But in a game of momentum, it was the end that mattered.
In the final ten and a half minutes, the Hi-Liners found a rhythm offensively and kept the Huskies from getting easy points to finish with the lead.
The Valley City State University womens basketball team picked up a big A.I.I. win on the road, beating Dakota State by a 68-52 Sunday.
Three Vikings scored in double figures, led by junior Katelyn Ralston who posted a game high 15 points on 7-12 shooting from the floor. Fellow junior Courtney Titus and sophomore Brittany Lehner tallied 11 points each for the Vikings.
The Viking defense held the Lady T’s to just 30.9 percent shooting from the floor and only 21 percent in the first half. The Vikings also forced 16 turnovers and coverted them into 18 points.
