Miriam J. Welken, 94, formerly of Glen Head, NY, New Bern, NC and Salisbury, NC died peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in Country Meadows Nursing Center, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was born March 15, 1918 in Steele, ND, the daughter of the late Nels K. and Elida Erickson Nelson. She was the wife of the late Lloyd O. Welken, who died in 2004 and with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Miriam is survived by a son, Lloyd C. Welken and his wife, Joyce of Easton, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Mary J. Weisbach and her husband, Phil of Boulder, Colorado; a brother, Lloyd A.
Richard âRickâ Holden, age 64, of Valley City, ND, died Thursday, May 16th at his residence in Valley City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 20th at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City with Reverend Jolene Knudson-Hanse officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Monday afternoon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery in Valley City.
Evelyn (Alme) Gruchalla, daughter of Hans and Alice (Lettenmaier) Alme, died peacefully on May 15, 2013 at the age of 89 under exceptional care from Sanford Hospice and the nursing staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. Services will be held May 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Veteransâ Cemetery in Mandan. Visitation will be 5 p.m-7 p.m. on May 19 at Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Patricia L. (Wagner) Drong, 64, passed away due to complications flowing surgery on Wednesday, May 15th at Sanford Hospital, Fargo.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday May 21st at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Sanborn, ND with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant and Deacon James McAllister assisting. Visitation will be from 4PM until 7 PM Monday at Sacred Heart Church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Interment will be in the ND Veterans Cemetery at Mandan, ND at 10 AM Wednesday.
Patricia Lynne Messner, 66, Minot, ND, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Patricia Lynne Nygaard was born September 3, 1946, the daughter of Clarence and Lila (Tenderholt) Nygaard, in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1964. Patt furthered her education by attending Minot State Business College.

DuBois T. Smith (February 17, 1931 â May 13, 2013)
The Reverend DuBois T. Smith died Monday evening, May 13, 2013 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND after a wonderful life. He was 82 years old.
Reverend Smith was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 17, 1931, the youngest child of Edward H.L. Smith and Dorothy Miller Smith. He spent most of his life on his familyâs farm in Nissequoque, NY part of the township of Smithtown, NY that was founded by his maternal and paternal ancestor Richard Smythe in the 1600âs.
