I have a memory. Oh my do I have a memory. I remember things that could have been purged long ago and far away but my memory has memorized them and thatâs all there is to it. In the 10th grade I memorized Marc Anthonyâs speech at Caesarâs funeral. I do a very impressive dramatic impression of this grand Shakespearian moment. Stop me on the street any day and Iâll prove it. The point is I donât need to know this anymore for any reason other than I do. The whole entire speech lives long in my memory-but thatâs not all.
Valley Cityâs Junior and Senior High Science Olympiad teams had a strong showing at the North Dakota State Science Olympiad which took place at North Dakota State University on April 21.
The Junior High took third place overall out of 23 teams and the Senior High took 11th out of 24 teams.
The Wings and Wheels AirShow set for Saturday, September 8 at the Barnes County Municipal Airport north of Valley City is being dedicated to the memory of two long time aviators, Larry Lindemann and Bob Beyer.
Large donations from engineering firm Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson Inc. and the Valley City Dacotah Bank of $2,500 each are helping fund the show.
Chad Petersen, manager of the Valley City office of KLJ, said Thursday âWeâve done work with the airport for years and they have been a great client over the years.â
Students at Jefferson Elementary School joined an expected 37,000 people across the U.S. and Canada who were blowing bubbles in an effort to raise autism awareness, and set a possible world record in the process.
It was a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, volcanoes spewed fiery lava and pterodactyls roamed the skies searching for prey.
But upon closer inspection, the dinosaurs are made of painted cardboard, and the volcano is fashioned out of yards of draped tulle, making the perfect background for Valley City High Schoolâs elaborate 2012 prom theme: âFrom the Beginning of Time to the End of Time.â
âWe just thought a prehistoric theme would be fun, and âthe end of timeâ has a little bit to do with 2012,â said VCHS art teacher and prom advisor Carol Foth.

An event to raise awareness for Autism is try to set a Guinness Book of World Record Thursday at Jefferson elementary school in Valley City
Event coordinator Jennifer Cabezas of Valley City who has two Autistic twin boys said there is a lot about the neurological disorder that many people donât understand.
Leah Haak, daughter of Tim and Linda Haak, Valley City, has been selected to receive the North Dakota State University Frances Swenson Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $880. She was recognized at the NDSU College of Human Development and Education Honors Day Brunch and Award Ceremony on April 17.
Haak is a sophomore majoring in dietetics. She is active in Student Dietetics Association, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, United Campus Ministries, University Chorus and University Chamber Chorus. She also is a resident assistant.
Students from Griggs County took first place overall at the 2012 Regional Elementary Science Olympiad which took place at the Eagles Aerie in Valley City on Wednesday.
Teams from seven schools â Maple Valley, St. Catherine's, LaMoure, Barnes County North, Griggs County, and Valley City's Washington Blue and Washington Gold â participated in 19 events at the competition, with BCN taking second place and Maple Valley third.
"All the teams did quite well," said Valley City teacher Jim McDaniel. "It came right down to the final event."
After being cancelled for two years due to Sheyenne River flooding, the American Quarter Horse Association annual show is back on, and the North Dakota Winter Show event center will once again be host to saddles instead of sandbags.
"The last two years had to be cancelled because of the flooding, so we're excited to have it back again," said NDWS Barn Superintendent Dallas Schmidt. "There's a lot of people in the area who compete. We get a good turnout, and just about all of our stalls will be full."
