Last week, Valley City resident Philip Chirchir, of 136 Eighth Avenue Southeast, fell victim to a home invasion when a group of people, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into his home and stole a television and a computer. Read more in Friday's Times-Record.
Pizza Corner pizzas are back on the shelves after a six-hour hold on sales yesterday. Some local Pizza Corner vendors, including MarketPlace Foods and Stop N Go, confirmed Wednesday that they received a letter or phone call from Pizza Corner, advising them to pull that brand's pizzas from their shelves. Others, including Leevers Foods and some local bars, had not received notification. Later Wednesday afternoon, they were given the go ahead to continue to sell and serve Pizza Corner pizzas. None of the vendors were told why.
Valley City Police arrested Jon Henry Lightning, 32, of Grand Forks, Tuesday at the Valley City VFW when he was discovered to have two swords and a dagger, which he used to vandalize the men's room at Jimmy's Pizza, hidden in his clothing. More in Friday's T-R.

A prayer service is planned for the congregation of Faith Lutheran Church at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the empty lot between the church on 4th street, Valley City, and Smith Lumber, and a meal and congregational meeting is planned afterwards at St. Catherine's, where the congregation can discuss their next steps including where to hold services.
Valley City native Tom Musgrave is set to appear in an upcoming TV adaption of the 1996 film Fargo, which is slated to air in 10 episodes on FX this spring.
Musgrave will play Bo Munk, the boss of main character Lester Nygaard, played by Martin Freeman, a well-known actor who's appeared in The Office, Sherlock and The Hobbit film trilogy.
