Youth With A Mission will be offering a banquet on the Impact World Tour on Thursday, May 3, at 7 p.m. in the St. Catherineâs Elementary School Gym.
âFeel free to bring your spouse or friends,â Executive Director of Faith In Action at Mercy Hospital Vicki Grafing said in an email. Faith in Action is a part of the community faith leadership that is bringing in YWAMâs Impact World Tour.
âWe will have a great praise band playing a couple songs; youâll see the powerpoint presentation of what IWT is.â

The Sheyenne River Valley Chapter of the North Country Trail Association is hosting a morning hike to the Mineral Springs waterfall in the Sheyenne State Forest on Saturday, May 5, and theyâd like to invite you along.
President Deb Koepplin welcomed anyone who would like a few hours of outdoor activity on the easy-to-moderate trail to meet in the Rosebud Visitorâs Center parking lot at 9 a.m. to carpool, or meet at the Sheyenne State Forest trailhead at 10 a.m.
The annual hiking excursion is usually well-attended, according to Koepplin.

As I walked around our backyard, I noticed that our rose bushes and various perennial plants are becoming green and lush. The tulip and daffodil bulbs have sprouted, dotting our landscape with flowers in shades of red and yellow. After our mild winter, I am mapping out our container gardens and flower beds.

Valley City State University Associate Professor Hilde van Gijssel has once again been named the âTeacher of the Yearâ by the VCSU Student Senate.
The annual award is given to professors who demonstrate dedication to students with innovative teaching methods and continued professional development.
While teaching in the science department, Van Gijssel is also taking classes in the universityâs Masters of Education program with an emphasis on technology education. She said spending time as a student helps make her a better teacher.
Three people are heroes after risking their lives saving strangers in what turned out to be a busy month of April for law enforcement and emergency responders.
On the evening of April 17, Valley City High School senior Austin Ross happened upon a rollover accident on the 800 block of Fifth Street Northwest. Ross freed the driver who was restrained by a seatbelt by cutting it with scissors.

The Hi-Liners donned their dapperest duds for the 2012 Valley City High School Awards Banquet in the VCHS Theater in the high school on Monday night.
The evening saw several dozen students receive awards and scholarships and the induction of members in to the National Honor Society and the Minerva Chapter of the National Honor Society.
The city of Valley City has narrowed their search for a new Chief of Police to three out-of-state and two local candidates, according to City Administrator and hiring committee member David Schelkopf. Mark McDonald, Doug Kiefert, Fred Thompson, Patricia Nowak and Ryan Evans have been selected for final in-person interviews to take place from May 8 to 15.
âAny one of the people on this list would be a fine candidate for Valley City,â Schelkopf said. âNow we just have to drill them and pick the best one.â
