Caitlin Sinness, granddaughter of Lon and Sharon Sinness of Valley City, will perform at the Barnes County Courthouse Wednesday for the Park and Recreation's summer music series. Caitlin recently recorded a pop county album in Nashville and will perform songs from that album at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 on the Barnes County Courthouse lawn.
At 7:36 a.m. Monday Barnes County announced that Barnes County Road 22 at Hobart Lake was closed due to high winds and waves. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
North Dakota State College of Science confirmed that the body recovered in the Red River north of Breckenridge, Minn., is that of missing student Andrew Sadek.
Sadek, 20, is a Valley City and Rogers area native.
" Our thoughts are with John and Tammy Sadek and their entire family," the college said in a release. "The NDSCS campus community shares in their grief. Andrewâ€™s loss has touched all of NDSCS, the communities of Wahpeton-Breckenridge, and a great many individuals throughout the state and region."

The Tasty Treat Drive-In, a Litchville landmark for years, has opened for the season, and dining facilities for customers have been added, said owner Vera Walker-Boyle Thursday. More in Friday's issue of the Times-Record.
Barnes County Relay for Life has raised about $29,000 so far in its 15th year, co-chair Lisa McCulloch said. She said the amount is close to what was raised last year, which was about $29,500.

Fireworks go on sale soon throughout the state. Before purchasing and releasing fireworks, Valley City Fire Department Chief Gary Retterath warns residents to stay safe during fireworks season.
The sale and use of fireworks in North Dakota is allowed from June 27 to July 5. In Valley City, fireworks can only be released from 8 a.m. to 11 p,m. One must be at least 12 years old to purchase fireworks in North Dakota. Bottle rockets are illegal to buy or sell in the state.

Valley City's First Community Credit Union opened its doors Wednesday to customers, visitors and the Valley City Chamber of Commerce for its grand opening, ribbon cutting and lunch at its new quarters on Main Street East. More in Thursday's issue of the Times-Record.
A Valley City high-risk sex offender has moved. Tyler Wayne Delmore is currently residing at 135 Second Street Southeast in Valley. He no longer lives at 491 Second Avenue Northwest.
Delmore, 30, was convicted in 2005 of gross sexual imposition. When he was 19, he had unprotected sex with a 14-year-old girl. When Delmore was 14, he was convicted of gross sexual imposition after having sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Delmore is American Indian with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.
