Joe Diffie, Parmalee to Perform at NDWS Concert

North Dakota Winter Show Manager Dawn Riley said country singer Joe Diffie, upcoming country group Parmalee and Fargo-based band 32 Below are set to perform at the Winter Show concert Friday, March 7.
Diffie, a country singer known for songs "Pickup Man," Bigger Than the Beatles," and "Third Rock from the Sun," will headline this year's show with Parmalee, an upcoming country music band known for their hit single "Carolina."
32 Below, a regionally-known country and rock band, will open the show.
The concert will be held at the NDWS event center, and tickets go on sale Feb. 10.

Santa, Cops and Kids Plans Another Year

Christmas isn't until Dec. 25, but for some area children, Santa will come a little earlier. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, area law enforcement and emergency responders will host the annual Santa, Cops and Kids event for local children who faced hardships in the past year.

Salvation Army at $9,500

December 10, 2013

Barnes County's Salvation Army is at $9,500 as of Monday, which is more behind than previous years. Chairman Lee Isensee said because the campaign started later this year, due to Thanksgiving being late, they are only a quarter of the way to their $40,000 goal.
Isensee said the organization is grateful for all the donations received so far.

Knutson Re-elected BC Chairman

Barnes County Commissioners have decided to re-elected Eldred Knutson chairman and Phil Leitner vice chairman of commissioners for 2014.
Meeting Dec. 3, commissioners voted to name both commissioners to the officer seats they now hold.

North Star Classic Wraps Up

The 14th annual North Dakota Winter Show North Star Classic wrapped up another successful year Sunday with lower than usual numbers, thanks to a winter onslaught from Mother Nature.

BC Accepts Paving, Grader Bids

Meeting Dec. 3, Barnes County commissioners decided to repave County Road 21 from the North Valley Bridge to the Bayshore Resort at Lake Ashtabula for a total cost of $2.8 million in the summer of 2014. More in Monday's issue of the Times-Record.

Santa Visiting Dakota Plains Friday

Santa Claus will be at the Dakota Plains, located at 151 Ninth Avenue Northwest, Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Children can get their photo taken with him for free.
