Diffie Concert Headlining 2014 NDWS

County Musician Joe Diffie is thrilled to headline the 2014 North Dakota Winter Show with a concert at 7 p.m. March 7. Diffie will appear with opening acts 32 Below and Parmalee. VCSU Hosts Signing Week for Students to Sign up for Dorm Living

Students at Valley City State University have a chance to sign up early to live in the university's residence halls all this week. VCSU is hosting its first ever signing week Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Housing Director Stephanie Roelfsema said signing week is an effort to promote students living in residence halls and trying to get them to commit early to that.

Two Face Drug Charges in VC

A Fargo man and woman were arrested on drug charges in Valley City Monday after a routine traffic stop.
The driver, Semereab Haile Tesfaye, 25, of Fargo and his passenger Jolynn Short Hughes, 33, also of Fargo, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

BEK Hosting Open House

Library Has New Cards

The long-awaited new library cards have arrived at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library, said Library Director Steve Hammel. The new cards include 14-digit bar codes to replace previously used library cards' five digit numbers. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.

Casey's General Store to Buy Area Stop-n-Go Stores

Valley City's Stop-n-Go is one of 24 in the region that will be bought by Casey's General Stores, Inc. later this year.
Casey's Chief Financial Officer Bill Walljasper said Monday the Ankeny, Iowa-based chain has a signed agreement to buy a total of 24 Stop-n-Go stores, 20 in North Dakota and four in Minnesota. The transaction is expected to be complete in May, and "one of the things we'll do immediately is rebrand that particular site, which is more sign-oriented than anything."

Swirling, twirling, dancing and laughing. Dashing men and beautiful women of all ages spent Valentine's Day evening gliding across the dance floor at the Valley City Eagles Friday during the adult prom. More photos will be posted on the Times-Record's Facebook page.

Winter Show Hosting Karaoke Contest

The North Dakota Winter Show is hosting a new event this year, where the community has the chance to take the stage. A karaoke contest will be held Thursday, March 6 beginning at 6 p.m. in the main arena of the NDWS building. The contest is open to all ages, but those under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian consent. There will be prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250.
