The Valley City Junior Senior High School cafe concert's Sunday performances have been postponed to Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Hi-Liner Activity Center. The two performances will be combined into one due to facility conflicts. The seventh- and eighth-grade choirs will perform at the Wednesday show.
Monday's performance will remain the same, featuring the sixth-grade students from Washington Elementary School beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday's performance tickets will not be honored for Monday's performance unless ticket holders call the school and exchange tickets on Monday.

The Valley City Police Department is cautioning area churches about a convicted child sex offender from California who is allegedly operating a scam.
A release from the VCPD said Kenneth Monk, a 5-foot-9-inch, 140-pound white male with brown hair and brown eyes, has been walking into churches, telling the congregations that his wife has died in a car accident and he needs money to get to Forest, Miss., to go to the funeral and be with his children. It's estimated that Monk is about 35 years old.
Barnes County commissioners Tuesday approved rebuilding work on two county roads done over the summer, said Kerry Johnson, Barnes County Highway superintendent.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) â€• A search committee has narrowed the list of 37 candidates for the presidency of Minot State University to eight.
The only in-state candidate remaining is Valley City State University President Steve Shirley. The others are current or former officials at schools in New York, Maryland, Vermont, Mississippi, Texas and Iowa.

Meeting in executive session Tuesday, Barnes County Commissioners afterwards said they authorized State's Attorney Lee Grossman to reach a settlement with Extradition Transport of America over an escape by a prisoner it was supervising in the Tower City area in 2011.
