Always Up to the Test: Mercy Celebrates Lab Week

Join the staff at CHI Mercy Health Lab this Friday, celebrating Lab Week.

The Lab staff has some fun to offer on Friday. Come by the lab Friday, between 9 a.m. and noon, ready to sing. It's the "Karaoke Fun Challenge."

Come by the lab, pick out your familiar and favorite song, and stretch those vocal chords. There's a prize for the top singer! And you can enjoy a tour of the lab.

VC Represented at Fuel Up to Play 60 Reward Summit

Valley City students joined other elementary, middle and high school students from North Dakota and Minnesota Thursday, April 16, for a nutrition and NFL-themed reward summit at Family Wellness as a reward for their efforts to eat healthy foods and stay active.

The student teams earned invitations to the Fuel Up to Play 60 Reward Summit by actively engaging in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program in their schools.

VCSU Offering Student Directed Showcase

Pollinator Garden Supporters Find Compromise

Valley City will get a pollinator garden/community orchard, but it won't be at the old lime pit. Instead, the Valley City City Commission approved the use of property nearby for the project leaving the old city lime pit available for another use, possibly a baseball field.

Crop Walk for Hunger Walk Set for Sunday

The Valley City Crop Walk for Hunger will be held Sunday, April 26, starting at 1 p.m. Walkers will begin the walk at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City.

Everyone is invited to walk and to donate money to help hungry people here in Valley City and across the world.

BC Checking Skylight Repairs

The North Dakota Historical Society has approved placing a permanent cover over historic skylight windows in the Barnes County Courthouse rotunda, county Commissioner Mike Metcalf said on Tuesday.

Blood Drive Scheduled

April 22, 2015

The Valley City Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees will hold its spring blood drive on May 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Valley City Eagles Club.

A separate blood drive will be held on May 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Valley City State University Grachien Gymnasium.

BC OKs Wellness Center Funds

At a Tuesday meeting, Barnes County commissioners voted 4-1 with Roger Berntson opposed to fund the Valley City Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center out of economic development funds to a total of $250,000.

Narrow Miss Again for MV School District

April 22, 2015

Maple Valley School District voters narrowly defeated a school bond issue again that would have allowed the district to build a new school in Tower City and renovate the existing building.

The special election was held Tuesday, April 14, but the results weren't final as school board members had to wait until Monday's school board meeting to open absentee ballots.

The Hi-Liner girls lost to Bismarck Century, 1-4, but defeated Williston 3-2 at the state...
The VCHS Hi-Liners defeated the Fargo North Spartans 5-3 in the first round of the EDC softball...
