The North Dakota University Systemâ€™s VCSU Presidential Search Committee has been informed that finalist Daniel Shipp has withdrawn from consideration for the VCSU presidency. The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education plans to interview the remaining finalist, Tisa Mason, on the VCSU campus the morning of Oct. 30. More in Friday's issue of the Times-Record.

North Dakota Measure 1 would not affect end-of-life decisions or the future of in-vitro fertilization, according to Christopher Dodson, Executive Director and Council for the North Dakota Catholic Conference, who spoke before an informational meeting held by the Valley City chapter of the North Dakota Right to Life Tuesday about what Measure 1 wouldn't do, and how the opposition â€“ using primarily outside funding from Planned Parenthood â€“ did not use facts that can be backed-up but instead used fear tactics in an attempt to dissuade voters from approving the measure.

Don Malec brought in this photograph of an August, 1950, train accident that took place in the Barnes County town of Lucca. The accident happened between a combination freight and passenger train and a freight train.
"They t-boned," Malec said. The accident between a Soo Line train and a Northern Pacific train resulted in one person dying, several injuries and a number of cattle being transported in freight cars dying.
