Bar, Grill to Open Next to MO Eats

A new bar and grill is set to open in Valley City Friday. The Rusty Cage, attached to new restaurant MO Eats, will open at 5 p.m. today and a grand opening celebration is set for Saturday from 4-11 p.m.
The bar is owned by Amanda Clark, who owns the neighboring restaurant. The grand opening will feature specials, drink features, prizes and giveaways.

Pet Parade Planned Monday

The Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals will host an evening of fun for dogs and their owners Monday. The group will hold a picnic and a pet parade at Chautauqua Park beginning at 5 p.m.

Langemo Visits VC Before Norway

On June 26 Laura Langemo visits Oslo, Norway, to be part of a special ceremony recognizing the 200th anniversary of that country's constitution.
An important part of the ceremony will be seeing a gift to the country – a bust of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln – created by Valley City State University student Paul Fjelde, and given to Norway at the 100th anniversary of the Norwegian constitution.
The ceremony will be in Olso's Frogner Park, the permanent home of the bust of Lincoln, Langemo said.

VC Church Hosts Conference

In recognition of hosting the 51st annual UCC Northern Plains Conference this past weekend, Valley City's Congregational UCC will be home to the conference's model replica of the 19th century “La Amistad” ship for the next year. More in Wednesday's issue of the Times-Record.

Kids to Get Tickets for Wearing Helmets

Valley City Police will be handing out tickets to children this summer, but not for violating the law. Kids caught wearing a helmet while bicycling, skateboarding, in-line skating, roller skating or riding a scooter could be stopped by a VCPD officer and given a ticket good for an ice cream cone at Dairy Queen.

2 Rear-End Collisions Occur on I-94

Two recent accidents on I-94 in Barnes County caused extensive vehicle damage and two injuries.

On Thursday, James Wanzek, 28, of Jamestown, and Linda Sorenson, 65, of Pillsbury, were both injured in a two-vehicle collision near Orkska.
According to North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Tom Herzig, at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Wanzek, who was driving a Toyota Tundra at about 75 mph, rear-ended Sorensen, who was driving a Dodge Durango at about 65 mph. According to Herzig, Wanzek was distracted by a water bottle that had fallen onto the floor.
