37 Inducted into National Honor Society

Valley City High School held its National Honor Society induction on Monday, April 27. Thirty-seven new members were inducted into the local chapter and join 27 existing members.

The pillars of National Honor Society are character, leadership, service, and scholarship. Inductees must provide evidence of these four traits on their application form and have maintained a 3.5 grade point average or higher cumulative grade point average.

Fog Blamed for Highway 46 Crash

Heavy fog was determined to be a contributing factor in a two-vehicle crash that caused minor injuries to one man.

The accident occurred at the intersection of North Dakota Highways 41 and 1 near Kathryn Tuesday morning. A pick-up driven by 79-year-old Walter Haberman was westbound on Highway 46. After stopping at the intersection, Haberman pulled into the intersection and was struck by a semi-trailer, driven by Mike Kleinsaffer, 69, traveling north on Highway 1 at about 45 miles-per-hour, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Kiwanis Celebrates 100 Years; VC Club Plans Annual Pancake Feed

Kiwanis is celebrating its 100th anniversary as Valley City's chapter plans its annual pancake feed Monday, May 4 at the Valley City High School Cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m.

State Approves Flood Protection Funding

Senator Larry Robinson, Valley City announced today that Valley City will be receiving $3,000,000 in funding to assist with the costs of Phase 1 of Permanent Flood Protection for the city.

Local Senior Gets $10K Scholarship for Finish in SkillsUSA Competition

Valley City senior Wyatt Hatcher's success at an automotive competition earned him a $10,000 scholarship to Universal Technical Institute.

Hatcher placed first in the state SkillsUSA competition in the automotive technology division Monday, April 20 in Wahpeton.
