Mother Nature played a cruel April Fool's prank by dumping more than a foot of wet, heavy snow to dig out from under on Tuesday. Throughout Valley City and Barnes County, snow blowers and plows could be spotted while vehicles spun and fishtailed through snow-packed streets.
A hearing to determine the legality of unilateral contracts that the Valley City Public School Board issued to Valley City teachers has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at the Barnes County Courthouse.

Meeting Tuesday, Barnes County Commissioners met Doug Kiefert, who becomes the newest road officer for the Barnes County Sheriff's Department May 9. More in Wednesday's issue of the Times-Record.
"Remembering our Fallen," a photo exhibit of the North Dakotans who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting the war on terrorism, will be visiting the Buffalo Community Center through April 18.

Barnes County Social Services is encouraging the community to observe National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The organization says, "Prevention requires a community effort, and everyone can do something."
Valley City Public Schools will be closing early with Jefferson and Washington Elementary Schools dismissing students at 12:45 p.m. and the junior/senior high school dismissing students at 1 p.m.
The Barnes County Courthouse is Closed.
