Valley City's First Community Credit Union has a new branch manager. Nathan Hillmer was promoted from agriculture and commercial loan officer to branch manager Feb. 8.

One Injured in VC Accident

A man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that caused damage at a Valley City business.

Just before 1 a.m. Thursday, Dakota A. Zaun, 20, of Valley City, was traveling westbound on West Main Street when the Hyundai he was driving left the roadway and hit a sign pole in the Northwest Industries parking lot, according to a media release from VCPD Chief Fred Thompson. Upon hitting the pole, the vehicle's engine caught fire and was extinguished by the Valley City Fire Department.

The Valley City High School softball team, their coaches and the Valley City Public Schools athletic director were on hand Tuesday for a regular Valley City Commission meeting where a discussion was held regarding whether the city's old lime pit should become a community flower garden and orchard or a new softball field.

V-Day Ovservance – The Vagina Monologues Appears at the Vault Thursday

Valley City State University Diversity Services will produce a benefit performance of the Vagina Monologues in recognition of V-Day – a global movement to end violence against women and girls worldwide – on Thursday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Vault in Valley City. Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Council on Abused Women North Dakota (CAWS ND). Admission to the event is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

BC To Clear River

Barnes County Commissioners reauthorized a taxing district to pay for clearing the Sheyenne River of trees that have fallen into the water on a 5-0 vote at a March County Commission meeting.

County Commissioner John Froelich said on Tuesday that commissioners voted for a snagging clearing district to remove dead trees from the Sheyenne River. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.
