NuCara Has Ribbon Cutting

July 14, 2014

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for NuCara Pharmacy Thursday, July 11. Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce ambassadors welcomed the pharmacy and its employees into the city with the ceremony followed by a brief tour and customer appreciation lunch.

VC Man Sentenced for Sex Crime

A Valley City man convicted of gross sexual imposition of a child under 15
was sentenced Wednesday in Barnes County District Court.

Timothy Tucker, 30, was convicted of gross sexual imposition of an 8-year-old female for the September, 2013 incident after he entered an Alford plea on April 8, meaning he admitted enough evidence was present to convict him. He did not admit to the crime, according to Barnes County States Attorney Carl Martineck.

Cameras Coming to Park

Repairs to the fountain in Valley City's City Park are on hold until after security cameras are installed in the park, said Tyler Jacobson, director of the Valley City Parks and Recreation District Thursday. More in Friday's issue of the Times-Record.

New Ford Facility Expected to Be Complete Mid Fall

The new Stoudt-Ross Ford building is well on its way to completion and is set to open mid-fall around Oct. 1, Nate Kvilvang, general manager, said.
Kvilvang said the entire shell of the nearly 25,000 square-foot building is up and it should fully-enclosed by the end of this week.

West Nile Virus In ND

Barnes County residents are at risk of catching West Nile virus, now that the Grand Forks Mosquito Control program has reported to the North Dakota Department of Health that it identified a mosquito pool that has tested positive for the virus. More in Friday's issue of the Times-Record.

Fundraiser for the Midland Continental Depot

July 11, 2014

On Saturday, July 12, from 1 p.m. on, a fundraiser for the Midland Continental Depot Museum in Wimbledon, N.D., will take place in the Wimbledon Park.

From 1 p.m. until gone floats will be served, including root beer, orange or grape, along with ice cream sundaes including Donna Peterson’s hot fudge and all the toppings.

There will also be face-painting and temporary tattoos. Vanilla and chocolate ice cream will be provided by the Midwest Dairy Association.

New Residents Invited to Welcome Event

Ken Evenson Remembered

Former Valley City Commissioner Kenneth Evenson of Valley City, 77, passed Wednesday, July 2, at his Valley City residence. At the time he was serving as a manager on the board for the Barnes County Water Resource District.
Evenson also worked as a lineman for Cass County Electric and Valley City. Evenson is survived by wife Dotty; daughter Deborah Ramsay; son Jeffrey Evenson, a medical doctor; and several grandchildren.
He also served as an honor guard with the American Vets Club.
