A Valley City woman was arrested Sunday on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after she assaulted a Valley City police officer.
Valley City police were called to a home at 923 Fourth Avenue Northwest, at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday by the recently-divorced ex-husband of Lindsey Thorton, whom he claimed was trying to beat his door down. When police arrived, Thorton, 31, who appeared to be intoxicated, according to VCPD Chief Fred Thompson, was outside the home, speaking in a very loud voice.
The 15th annual North Star Classic, the largest cattle show in North Dakota, will recognize two livestock honorees this year; the late Tom Wieland of Sanborn and Ed Olson will be honored for their contribution to the success of the North Star Classic and the North Dakota Winter Show as well as the livestock industry in general. Wieland, a Barnes County native, spent his life in the farming and ranching industry â€“Â from running the family farm to working with livestock at a few stockyards. He started working as the NDWS barn manager in 2013.
