Parents of Andrew Sadek Hire Private Investigator

The parents of a missing North Dakota State College of Science student say they've hired a private investigator because the police investigation has gone cold.

Twenty-year-old Andrew Sadek left his dorm on May 1 and hasn't been seen since. Authorities days later issued an arrest warrant charging Sadek with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

Cinema Flix for Sale

Low attendance has forced the owners of Cinema Flix in Valley City to put the movie theater up for sale or look for investors to help keep it running.

Jeremy Zako, who owns the theater with his wife Wendy, said Tuesday that attendance has been declining since the end of December last year. The theater only opened Nov. 8. The owners plan to keep the business running as long as they can afford to and have no immediate plans to close.

Skaters Enjoy Park in VC

June 23, 2014

Jason Cushing of Jamestown observed International GO Skateboarding Day Saturday with a group of friends at the skateboard park in Valley City.

The official holiday was the brainchild of the International association of Skateboard Companies as a way to make skateboarding more accessible. The name likely came from "No Skateboarding" signs that skaters changed to "Go Skateboarding."

Finalists Named For Judge Vacancy

Three lawyers have been named as finalists to fill the Southeast Judicial District judgeship vacancy created by the June retirement of Judge John Paulson.

Barnes County States Attorney Carl Martineck said Friday that the finalists named by the Judicial Nominating Committee are: Cherie L. Clark, Moorhead, Minn., Troy J. LeFevre, Jamestown, and Jerod E. Tufte, Dawson.

BREAKING: Elderly Pedestrian Stuck by Truck in VC

Neither alcohol nor speed were considered to be factors when a 92-year-old Valley City pedestrian was injured Sunday after being hit by a pickup.
Rita Weber was struck by the Ford F150 while she was in a crosswalk of Central Avenue North and Sixth Street Northwest in Valley City at about 6:20 p.m.

Weber was walking south on Central Avenue North and was crossing Sixth Street Northwest when she was struck, according to Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson. For reasons unknown, the driver of the pickup failed to see the Weber in the crosswalk.
