Sheriff Wants Pay Hikes

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin is asking for an increase in the pay portion of his department's budget for 2015 to add a full-time deputy at the jail and bring wages of himself and other deputies in line with wages deputies in nearby counties. More in Thursday's issue of the Times-Record.

BC Sheriff Looking for Tatarelli

Each week, local law enforcement asks for help from the community in locating individuals who have felony warrants out for their arrest.

Tony Sabastian Tatarelli, Jr. is wanted by the Barnes County Sheriff's office on a bench warrant for failure to appear for an order to show cause hearing for the charges of physical obstruction of a government function, a class A misdemeanor.

Tatarelli, 20, is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is six feet, one inch tall and weighs 175 pounds.

Ladies Spin Wool at Museum

(From left) Kristi Anderson, Cathryn Stillings knit while Mari Anne Williams spins wool at the Barnes County Historical Museum Friday. Williams began spinning wool about seven years ago. Friday, she spun yarn from the wool of a sheep in Pelican Rapids, Minn. that the ladies have all met. Before it can be used for yarn, the wool must be cleaned and "carded" or brushed.

VCSU’s Prairie Waters Center Receives Grant for High School Wetlands Program

Valley City State University’s Prairie Waters Education and Research Center has received a $9,900 grant from the North Dakota Natural Resources Trust to start a wetlands education program for North Dakota high schools. More in Tuesday's Times-Record.

O'Reilly Auto Parts to Open in VC

August 29, 2014

An O'Reilly Auto Parts store will open in Valley City tomorrow. Located at 1411 West Main Street, the new store will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12-6 p.m. Sundays. The store is open Labor Day from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Josh Liebersbach of Valley City will manage the store.

David Broadwell, district manager, of Valley City said construction on the new building began in May. The company is always expanding and adds new stores every year.
