Cemetery Gets a Face-Lift

August 13, 2014

Part of Woodbine Cemetery in Valley is getting a facelift. Tuesday, a pair of contractors began the task of straightening and securing gravestones of veterans – some from as far back as the Civil War – on an edge of the cemetery reserved for veterans. More in Wednesday's Times-Record.

Ladies Add Garden to Rudolf

Two ladies at the Rudolf Square in Valley City have created a garden for the community there. Maridenis Carpenter started by putting a couple flower pots out on the steps, and the garden has grown to include several flowers and plants along the steps and fence on the east side and a few on the west side.

Warrant Wednesday: Jeremy Albert Earl Smith

Each Wednesday, local law enforcement asks for help from the community in locating individuals who have felony warrants out for their arrest.

This week, the Barnes County Sheriff's Office is looking for Jeremy Albert Earl Smith who is wanted on a class C felony warrant for aggravated assault.

Smith, 22, is an African American male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 155 pounds.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Smith should call the Barnes County Sheriff's Office at (701) 845-8530.

Weed Becoming Big Problem

According to Barnes County Weed Officer Jim McAllister, Barnes County is becoming invaded with a relatively new weed called absinth wormwood. Mor in Wednesday's issue of the Times-Record.
