State's Attorney Leaving Feb. 14

Barnes County State's Attorney Lee Grossman told Barnes County Commissioners Tuesday he was leaving his elected position Feb. 14.
Grossman told commissioners he was leaving to join the law firm owned by Valley City Attorney Russell J. Myhre.

Shopko Hometown Foundation to Donate up to $2K to VCPS

Those who shop at Shopko this month have an easy opportunity to help the Valley City Public School District gain up to $2,000 from the franchise's hometown foundation.
Customers who visit Shopko between Dec. 1 and Dec. 24 can simply sign their name to show support; no donation or purchase is required. Shopko Hometown Foundation will donate $1 for each signature up to $2,000.

VCPS Cancels, Changes Activities Due to Weather

Marty Bratrud, activities director for Valley City Public Schools, notified the school district of changes and cancellations in school activities due to a predicted winter storm.

*The junior high girls basketball game against Barnes County North is cancelled (no make up date has been set at this time).

*Boys and girls hockey practice is cancelled for tonight in Jamestown.

Clancy Estate Makes $42K VCSU Bequest

The estate of Dr. Sharon Clancy, who died Oct. 5, 2012, has made $42,600 bequest to the Valley City State University Scholarship program, said her brother, Lynn Clancy, in a phone interview Monday from Bismarck. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.

First Big Snow Falls in VC

Snow! Lots of snow has fallen since late Sunday, and more could be on the way.
Half a foot of heavy, wet snow Sunday evening into Monday afternoon caused slipping and sliding throughout Valley City and on I-94.

Pizza Ranch to Open in Valley City

Bergan Enterprises announced today that they plan to open a Pizza Ranch in the existing Roby's building on West Main Street in Valley City. Tommy Bergan will operate the business, which is set to open April 1.
Pizza Ranch's menu features pizza, an extensive salad bar, chicken, potatoes, wraps and more.

Open House at President’s House Guest Inn to be Held Dec. 14

The President’s House Preservation Society will hold a holiday open house at the President’s House Guest Inn on the campus of Valley City State University on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 5:30 p.m.
The President’s House has been decorated for Christmas, and the open house will feature refreshments, tours of the home and information about renovation plans.
