19-Year-Old Publishes 4 Books

Sheldon native Mattie Richardson may be only 19, but she has already published four books.
Her first three efforts were written specifically for children, while her most recent book, Blackberry Blossom, was written for young adults. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.

Caitlin Releases Debut Album

Caitlin Country, granddaughter of local couple Lon and Sharon Sinness, has recently released her debut album, titled "I'm Up," with the song of the same name receiving radio play all over the United States and United Kingdom. Read more in Tuesday's Times-Record.

VCSU Sponsors Trick-or-Treating

Test Drives at Perkins Earns VCFD $2K

Anyone who test drove a vehicle at Perkins, Inc. earlier this month helped contribute $2,000 to the Valley City Fire Department. Perkins sponsored the Chevrolet Drive to Help a Hero Program Oct. 7-12, in which the dealership donated $20 to the VCFD for each test drive.

Fund Provides $112K For Theater

The Red River Corridor Fund has provided $112,500 through its Collateral Support Program to secure financing that will be used to re-open a movie theater in Valley City. The financing will support building renovation and equipment upgrades and could create 10 jobs. More in Monday's issue of the Times-Record.

Ninth Avenue Completed

Governor Jack Dalrymple, along with North Dakota Department of Transportation Director Grand Levi, Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven and other federal, state and local officials were on hand Friday for a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of the Ninth Avenue Northwest reconstruction project in Valley City.

City Park Band Shell Group at nearly $90K

Last week, Valley City resident Philip Chirchir, of 136 Eighth Avenue Southeast, fell victim to a home invasion when a group of people, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into his home and stole a television and a computer. Read more in Friday's Times-Record.

Pizza Corner Pizzas Back on Shelves

Pizza Corner pizzas are back on the shelves after a six-hour hold on sales yesterday. Some local Pizza Corner vendors, including MarketPlace Foods and Stop N Go, confirmed Wednesday that they received a letter or phone call from Pizza Corner, advising them to pull that brand's pizzas from their shelves. Others, including Leevers Foods and some local bars, had not received notification. Later Wednesday afternoon, they were given the go ahead to continue to sell and serve Pizza Corner pizzas. None of the vendors were told why.
