Due to the heat and humidity in buildings, Valley City Public Schools is making some changes to the school times this week.
There will be no school on Wednesday, Aug. 28, Bryan Kriewald, technology coordinator, said in an email Monday afternoon.
School will start at regular time on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 29 and 30 but will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. those days.
The Jefferson School picnic tonight and the Back to School Night at Washington Elementary on Thursday are still on as scheduled.
Valley City resident Mabel Miller celebrated her 90th birthday Aug. 3 at the Legacy Place.
The Valley City Barnes County Public Library is going modern, starting a new catalog interface readers will be able to reach from the library homepage.
Library Director Steve Hammel said Friday, â€śPatrons will be able to log on and look at their account. They will be able to renew online, look at their account, see what's out and when it's due.â€ť

A Valley City man was arrested early Friday for possession of child pornography.
According to a press release from Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson, the VCPD was contacted by a man who alleged the man was in possession of child pornography. After interviewing the woman, and investigation was started.

A Valley City man who fired several shots at two pit bull dogs he thought were going to attack him was arrested Thursday by the Valley City Police for disorderly conduct.
The accused, 24, was taken to the Barnes County Correctional Center where his bond was later posted by District 24 Representative Dwight Kiefert (R).
