Tractors: Think Twice About Ride-Alongs

Last week, a toddler riding in a tractor with his father on their farm near Cayuga, N.D., fell out an open window and died after he was hit by one of the rear tires. The tractor was an older one with no air conditioning, so the windows were open for ventilation.

79 Give Blood in VC

Deb Miller, blood drive coordinator for the two-day drive held in Valley City on July 16 and 17th saw 95 people volunteer to donate blood and 79 were able to give.
Miller said 18 people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 95 products were collected.
Five of the donors gave blood for the first time.

BC Native Named Magazine Reviewer

Barnes County resident Gail Pederson is excited about her son, Evan Pederson, being named a reader reviewer for Backpacker Magazine.
"It was a fun process," said Evan. "It will be my first time working with editors, and on deadlines. I lived in Montana for eight years, and now live in Alaska."

New Apparel Store Open in VC

The old Valley Fashions building didn't remain without clothes for long. A new apparel and accessory store officially opened in the building Wednesday during Crazy Day.
Owners Tanya and Chad Couture said they had a lot of good feedback from the public during their soft opening.
"After yesterday (Wednesday), things kind of all fell into place," Tanya said.
Urban Couture was originally set to open in the Straus Mall, but once the Valley Fashions building became available, the owners decided to "take the leap."
