St. Catherine Parish Catholic Daughters of the Americas are holding their annual Rhubarb Run Fundraiser on Saturday, June 8.
People who have rhubarb they'd like to donate can call Sue Judd at 840-8816 or Anne Wuolu at 845-5242 for pick up.Â
June 5 is National Gingerbread Day, and in recognition, Elevate Within Peer Group would like to announce a gingerbread design competition in late November.
The competition, which has several sponsors, will consist of an adult and student competition. Entry will be free and open to anyone, according to Reverend Jennifer Pickard of Elevate Within.
Winners of the competition will be announced and prizes awarded on December 7 at the annual Holiday Extravaganza in Valley City. Regulations and additional information will be available in September.
Valley City officials and George Gaukler said Tuesday they are pleased with a Sheyenne River bank stabilization project on Main Street adjacent to the Marketplace and the Old Elks Apartments.
Said Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven, â€śIt's working as planned, and working real well. I was watching it when the river was at 2,000 cubic feet per second, and when it (the water speed and depth) dropped down, it still looked good.â€ť

As the owner of two pickup trucks customized with the ability to run through very deep mud, local resident HJ Norman wanted his hometown to have the same experience he and his family does when they play in the mud. Next week, the Valley City resident has the chance to show what his trucks are made of and help the North Dakota Winter Show run its very first mud bogs during Rally in the Valley community days weekend June 15-16.
The mud bogs will be held Saturday, June 15 at 4 p.m. Gates open at 2 p.m., and there will be concessions of food and beer.
