A meeting for the community gardens in Valley City is set for Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Hi-Liner Activity Center. There are currently six plots available for rental.

Three area students â€“ two from Valley City and one from Tower City â€“ won the "Eat Smart. Play Hard." poster contest sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service, the North Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the NDSU Center for 4-H Youth Development. The contest was a way to teach students about maintaing a healthy body by educating others.

It is essential for consumers to carefully read labels on over the counter medications, Mercy Hospital Pharmacist Amy Noeske Tuesday told about 60 people at the Valley City Senior Center for the District VI 2013 North Dakota Governor's Forum on Aging.
Noeske spoke about over-the-counter medications and how to decide which are right for the consumer. Noeske said it is essential for consumers to carefully read labels on over the counter medications.

During the District VI 2013 North Dakota Governor's Forum on Aging at the Valley City Senior Center, Sharon Buhr and Michon Kysilka urged attendees to eat more fruits and vegetables.
About 60 people, many of them senior citizens, were at at the center for the half-day forum, which ran from 9 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m.
