The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has issued a Travel Alert for the southeast region of North Dakota including the cities of Jamestown, Valley City, Fargo, Wahpeton and surrounding areas due to blowing snow causing reduced visibility and areas of scattered ice on roadways. Conditions are such that motorists can still travel in these areas, but should be advised that conditions could change rapidly. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.

The Marion Fire Department responded to a fire at the home of George and Sally Tvedt on 101st Street north of Marion (the Eckelson Road), in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The fire, which started in an attached garage, destroyed the garage and caused extensive damage to the home. The Tvedts, along with their dog, escaped the fire unharmed. A Marion firefighter was treated and released for smoke inhalation at Mercy
Hospital in Valley City.

Mixed Martial Arts fighter Travis McCullough was skinny with a big mouth when he was a kid, so he got beat up regularly. Finally, he learned to defend himself and at 23 he turned his fighting skills into a profession as a mixed martial arts fighter.
On Saturday, McCullough fought at a Valley City event but was defeated but only after putting up a good fight.
McCullough, who lives in Tower City, is now 31 and fights because he likes it, he said. He enjoys the travel and meeting people along the way.
