Tower City, Buffalo Raising Funds for Parish Nursing

Movie Theater to Open Nov. 8

The new movie theater in Valley City is set to open next week with a total of three movies being shown opening weekend, said owners Jeremy and Wendy Zako. Thor 2 and Freebirds will play at 1, 4, 7 and 9 p.m. Friday; at 4, 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday; and 1, 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday.
A special showing of Pitch Perfect will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Valley City's women's weekend.

UPDATE: One Church Burglary Suspect Arrested; Other Remains at Large

One of the suspects in a string of recent Valley City church burglaries turned herself in Wednesday, Barnes County States Attorney Lee Grossman said.
Nicole Lindermann, 18, of Kathryn, was then arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, a class C felony.
Grossman said the second suspect, Andrew M. Miklas, 25, of Valley City, still remains at large with a warrant issued for his arrest.
Anyone with information on these cases, or with information regarding the whereabouts of Miklas should call the Valley City Police Department at (701) 845-3110.

VC Man Saves Woman in Pizza Corner

Pizza Corner restaurant employee David McDonald helped save a woman's life last week. McDonald performed the Heimlich maneuver "eight to ten times" on an elderly woman who was choking and had passed out at the restaurant Oct. 23. Read this story in Wednesday's Times-Record.

City Examines Zoning

Valley City officials plan to do something about the city's zoning problem. Areas that are primarily used for retail businesses are zoned industrial, apartment buildings are in single family residential areas and there is a home in the middle of an industrial park. UPDATE: USDA Found Nothing Wrong With Pizza Corner Pizzas

An accusation regarding the safety of Pizza Corner pizza last week was found to be unsubstantiated, according to a spokesman with the USDA.
Public Affairs Specialist for the USDA, Richard McIntire, told Valley News Live, “There was no issue. We looked into an unfounded food safety concern.”
Following a six-hour hold on sales Wednesday, Oct. 23, Pizza Corner vendors were told pizzas were safe to serve and sell.
