Whether they used wood or pine needles, paint or fabric, staff and tenants at The Legacy Place showed off their artistic abilities in a variety of techniques Friday during an “Art for the Ages” art exhibit open house.
The show consisted of a variety of artwork made by tenants and staff of The Legacy Place, an assisted living facility in Valley City.
Harmonica music echoed in the background as visitors viewed paintings, afghans, cookbooks, ceramics, crewel stitching, woodwork, crochet and pine needle artwork.
It has been weeks since the new press boxes have been mounted on the stands at Hannah Field, the home of the Valley City Hi-Liners. The boxes were built by students at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Tech Center as a project for last year’s construction class, and at the SVACTC Board meeting, Director Jeff Bopp said they are not done with them yet.
“We’ll be doing another small project there,” Bopp said.
A representative from the U.S. Department of Agriculture said that Valley City Public Schools has not only successfully positioned itself for new federal guidelines for school meals, but that the school’s new wellness policy and other initiatives go above and beyond what the government expects from a school lunch program.
“Where were you when my kids were in school?” USDA Regional Special Nutrition Programs Director Darlene Sanchez asked VCPS Food Service Director Sue Milender.
