Elston of Valley City is mother to four-year-old Paityn Elston whose dreams came true when she was granted a trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., by the Make-A-Wish North Dakota Foundation.
Valley Cityâ€™s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and AMVETS chapter along with auxiliaries from all city veteranâ€™s organizations will participate in this yearâ€™s Memorial Day observations in Valley City.
James Verwey, Barnes County Veterans Service Officer, said Monday along with the VFW and AMVETS organizations, auxiliaries from the VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Eagles will be involved.

The Valley City Police Department and the Barnes County Sheriffâ€™s Office is participating in a seatbelt blitz as part of a national â€śClick It or Ticketâ€ť campaign that will run from May 21 to June 3.
â€śWe write seatbelt citations throughout the year, but we wonâ€™t give any warnings for a two-week period here,â€ť said Barnes County Sheriffâ€™s Deputy Brian Hager.
Valley City Police Sgt. David Swenson said in news release wearing a seat belt is the single most effective way to reduce motor vehicle fatalities.
