The 16th annual Cavalier Motorcycle Ride-In, “Little Sturgis of the North”, will be held in Cavalier, N.D., on Saturday, June 16th with other activities scheduled June 15 and 17.

Nick Faure named VCSU Valedictorian is

When Nick Faure began his four-year career at Valley City State University, he didn’t expect to have the opportunity to study abroad twice as well as play a key role in starting the Pre-Professional Club.
Faure, a Valley City native, took on the challenge of three majors: Chemistry, Health Science, and Biology. He was also involved in a number of activities on campus: he was president of the Pre-Professional Club, a member of Student Center, a Viking Ambassador and was involved in Spanish Club and the Environmental Task Force.

VCHS advisors win awards, NFLer speaks

Three Valley City High School staff members were recognized as “Advisors of the Year” for the “Fuel Up to Play 60 Program,” an in-school nutrition and physical activity program developed by the National Dairy Council, Midwest Dairy Council and the National Football League.

Food and consumer sciences teacher Beth Beckers, Sue Milender, the schools food services director, and physical education instructor Trevor Bakalar received their awards at a presentation at the VCHS theater on Wednesday, which included a visit from former NFL player John Taylor.

Don Mugan retiring from VCSU

Valley City State University technology education Professor and Great Plains STEM Education Center director Donald Mugan retires June 15 after 39 years as a teacher and administrator at VCSU.

His family and friends are invited to an open house from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Valley City Eagles Aerie “to wish him well,” said Mugan’s daughter Bridget Mugan Rohan Wednesday.

STEM stands for Science Technology Engineering Mathematics.

It is a new way of looking at science and math education to make the disciplines more attractive to the current generation of students.
