North Dakota’s Parks and Recreation Department revealed Monday that the 2013 annual vehicle permit for North Dakota state parks will recognize the 30th anniversary of the Fort Ransom State Park “Sodbuster Days” event.
Jerry Nordick, chairman of the association board, said Monday members learned of the honor at the association’s recent Christmas party.
The Barnes County Wildlife Federation is searching for a new place to put an indoor archery range, which is currently located in the City Auditorium or “the Audi.”
The range, located in the basement, and includes 3-D targets and allows archers to shoot from 20 yards and 10 yards indoors. Soon, though, they’ll have to find a new place to shoot because the building is being sold by the City of Valley City.
Area first responders recently completed Incident Command Training in an effort to assure an adequate, organized response to emergencies — large and small.
The multi-departmental training, instructed by Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson, who is a federally certified incident command center trainer, addressed the organizational system mandated by the U.S. government in responding to any major disaster like a flood, a terrorist attack, or a chemical spill.
