Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah freshman guard/forward Harmony Burns stole a Maple Valley inbound pass for a layup and a 34-33 lead â€” the Rebelsâ€™ only basket of the fourth quarter â€” and sophomore forward/center Madison Kaehler sank 2 of 3 free throws in the final 30 seconds to help their side hang on, 37-33, against Maple Valley in the Region 1 Tournament semifinals in Wahpeton on Tuesday night.
Viking softball took off for Tucson, Ariz., on Tuesday to begin a stretch of 22 Spring games in 11 days, including four exhibition contests, from March 12-22.

Hazel Mattice, who grew up on a Barnes County farm, has written a book set in the area. "The Dark Days: The Age of Them," which takes place in Barnes County and Valley City, was recently published and available online through Amazon for $2.99.
The 300-page science-fiction thriller story is based on a location near Valley City.

Barnes County North's Lady Bison basketball season came to an end with Monday night's 67-42 Region 3 Tournament defeat at the hands of District 6 Tournament champion South Border.
The Lady Bison, who finished No. 4 in the District 5 Tournament, went 0-5 in District 5 play and 6-16 overall, took sixth place of eight teams in the Barnes County Tournament at Valley City State University and, after winning two of their final three regular-season games, took the fifth District 5 Tournament seed and upset fourth-seeded Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier, 35-30, in Ellendale.
Maple Valley sophomore forward Rylee Nudell scored 21 points as the Raiders beat North Sargent 41-34 in Mondayâ€™s Region 1 Tournament quarterfinals at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D.
