Watch Party for VCSU Football Game

November 21, 2014

The Valley City State University Booster Board and Alumni Board invite alumni, fans and friends of Viking Athletics to attend a watch party Saturday, Nov. 22 starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Valley City Country Club.
 
Fans will be able to watch the Viking football playoff game which kicks off at 1 p.m. CST. The Booster and Alumni board will provide chili. 

Come out to cheer on the Viking football team as they take on Carroll College in the first round of the NAIA playoffs. If you can't make it to the watch party, below are several ways to follow the game live.

Valley City State vs. Carroll College: The Road to Montana

HELENA, MONT. (VCSU) - More than 10 months worth of preparation culminates in one game Saturday for the VCSU football team.

After setting their team goals back in January – and working toward those goals through workouts, practices and games – the Vikings have accomplished many of those goals, including a conference championship and an NAIA playoff appearance.

VC Senior to Compete in Miss ND Teen USA

Valley City senior Jordyn Sayler will compete in the Miss North Dakota Teen USA competition this weekend. The Miss North Dakota USA competition will be held in conjunction.

Sayler, daughter of Nathan and Marsha Sayler, said the preliminary round, in which competitors interview with judges, is Saturday, and the final show will be Sunday, Nov. 23 at North Dakota State University's Festival Concert Hall at 4 p.m.

Throwback Thursday: Deactivation of Guard 141st Engineer Combat Battalion

The Valley City Times-Record plans to run a historical photograph each week on Thursdays submitted by our readers.

Gerry Gerntholz of Valley City brought in this photograph taken during the 2008 program marking the deactivation of Valley City's National Guard 141st Engineer Combat Battalion. The battalion was started in 1955.

The Times-Record encourages residents of Barnes County and Valley City to submit photographs of personal and community events and activities that happened during their memories.

Submitted photographs will be returned after publication on request.

VC Employees Get Raises all Around

Valley City's employees were granted raises during a regular meeting of the Valley City City Commission Tuesday after a study revealed that Valley City employees, on average, earned 20 percent less than their counterparts in other cities.

Barnes County Commissioners have agreed to pay for vandalism to Faust Park, even though the Barnes County Wildlife Federation takes care of the county facility owned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency Agency under contract. More in Thursday's issue of the Times-Record.

Not Enough Riders for Fun Bus

Valley City State University did not get enough riders signed up for a fan bus to the NAIA football playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 22, where the Vikings take on Carroll College at 12 p.m. MST/1 p.m. CST in Helena, Mont.

Helena is located in west-central Montana and is approximately an 11-12 hour drive by car, mostly on interstate highways. Flying into Helena is also an option. Flights from Fargo and Bismarck would make stops in Minneapolis or Denver before flying into Helena.

VCSU has provided hotel information for those planning to make the trip via car or flight.
