The VCHS Blue and White Track Meet will be held Tuesday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at VCSU. It was rescheduled from Monday, May 11, due to inclement weather.
Two area residents were arrested Friday by the Barnes County Sheriff's Office for their roles in thefts from a rural Dazey farm.
Nicholas Barr Cascone, 37, of Dazey, and Autumn Lynn Rasmusson, 28, of Dazey, were arrested in Grand Forks County after the sheriff's office recovered a stolen vehicle, two stolen firearms and some farm equipment reported stolen from a rural Dazey farm, according to a press release from the Barnes County Sheriff's Office.
Valley City Clean Up Week will be held from Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15. The free pickup and disposal is for residential waste only. Valley City residents are asked to put their garbage, including the extra, in their regular pick up spot by 7 a.m. on their regular garbage pickup day. There is no limit on the number of bags, cans, boxes, etc and no extra charge. A full list of what will not be picked up is available on the city's website, www.valleycity.us.

A gas main was damaged by contractors in the area of Sixth Avenue and Sixth Street Northeast in Valley City. Residents are asked to stay clear of the area.

Wes Anderson, curator of the Barnes County Historical Society Museum provided this photograph taken in 1944 of the 1943-44 College High School basketball team.
That year the team played 21 games, won 18 and lost three. During that season, College High School scored a totals of 655 points, and its opponents scored 404 points.
