Maple Valley Voters to Decide on Construction, Renovation Project Again in April

Residents of the Maple Valley School District have the chance to vote again in April on a proposed school construction and renovation project that would bring all students from the district into one building. A series of public information meetings regarding the project will be held in the communities that comprise the district beginning Monday.

Warming Trend, Get Ready to Share the Road with Motorcycles

The driver of a motorcycle was injured Monday afternoon when when he hit the rear passenger side of a school bus causing the motorcycle to crash in the intersection of Central Avenue North and Fifth Street in Valley City near Valley City High School.

The 18-year-old driver, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was transported to CHS Mercy Health with non-life threatening injuries.

With temperatures on the rise, more and more motorcycles will be sharing the roads with other vehicles.

BC Road Restrictions Effective Wednesday

Road Restrictions on all Barnes County roads will be effective on Wednesday at 7 a.m.. according to Barnes County Road Superintendent Kerry Johnson.

Teen Tech Week at Library

This week has been a special week at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library – Teen Tech Week.

Each day this week, starting on Monday and finishing up on Saturday, will be a special activity for teenagers, said Melissa Lloyd, youth services coordinator for the library on Tuesday.

Family Fun, Fitness Night a Success

The tables were turned this past Thursday night when fourth-grade students at Washington Elementary School became the teachers and taught their parents and grandparents what to do to maintain a healthy blood pressure at the Family Fun and Fitness Night.

Hi-Lites Return from Nationals

March 10, 2015

The Valley City Hi-Lites dance team returned Sunday from the national dance competition in Orlando, Fla., with a 25th place finish out of 41 teams in the jazz competition and a 13th place finish out of 21 teams in the hip-hop competition – all with a very young team made up mostly of seventh- and eighth-graders.

United Way Raises More than $73K in 2014

United Way of Barnes County finished its 2014 fundraising campaign with $73,719.83 — $20,000 more than the group raised in 2013, said Kayla Evenson, secretary for United Way of Barnes County.
