New Home for Dakota Rose

Dakota Rose Floral will open in their new location at 1125 West Main Street Monday, employee Kathy Jacobson said.

The new location is a bigger facility with more parking space that will allow the business to accommodate their recent staff expansion and consolidation with another flower show.

“We’re busing at the seams at this smaller place,” Jacobson said.
In September Deb White, owner of Dakota Rose Floral, bought all inventory from Bloom N Crafts Floral, owned by Kathy Jacobson.

Postage Increasing 1 Cent Jan. 27

The cost for First-Class mail will increase by 1 cent Jan. 27, when the price goes from 45 cents to 46 cents, Valley City Postmaster Sherry Johnson confirmed Wednesday.

Along with the increase in cost for First-Class mail, the U.S. Postal Service will introduce a First-Class mail global forever stamp. The new stamp will allow customers to mail letters anywhere in the world at a set price of $1.10. Johnson said this is the first time a global forever stamp is being sold.

Fisher, Johnson Score Well at Final Home Meet of Regular Season

When the Valley City High School gymnastics teams had its first home meet of the week Tuesday, Taylor Johnson and Rebekah Fisher kept their scores close.
Thursday, as the Hi-Liners hosted their final home meet of the regular season, a triangular with Fargo and Davies, it wasn't much different.
Johnson got the better score in the floor, Fisher narrowly had the better score on the beam and vault. The two even finished the day with a tie on the bars, scoring 8.2 each.

I have looked for new recipes that are simple, quick and of course delicious. I have picked a couple of my favorites to share with you. If hot and spicy is what your crowd likes, then they will love this first recipe. It is so fast an easy to make and will have your guests screaming for more.

Bacon wrapped Jalapeno Shrimp with Sweet Chili Sauce.
All you need is:
24 shrimp, medium size
12 slices bacon
24 jalapeno peppers

Valley City Doctor Tanya Diegel encourages people to establish relationships with a primary health provider to benefit from having a partner in managing health.

Rochelle Haugen of Dazey, started seeing her family practice doctor more than a decade ago. Now, her four children and husband see the same physician, Diegel of Essentia Health-Valley City Clinic. Haugen said that familiarity with her family members’ health histories is comforting for her.

VCSU Earns Ranking

Valley City State University recently earned the distinction of being ranked number 22 in the second edition of U.S. News and World Reports Best Online Graduate Education programs and was the only North Dakota college or university to be ranked in its category.

VCHS Holds Art Show for Students

January 16, 2013

Valley City Junior Senior High School held a combined art show Monday for students in grades 7-12 in art classes. The show featured artwork from the past two quarters.

Senior High art teacher Kelly Callahan said Tuesday that the show had a great turnout.

“I’m proud to be their teacher, they work hard, and you can see by their work,” she said, adding “the students are so proud.”

VC School Board to Hire Full-Time Activities Director

The Valley City Public School District will soon hire a full-time activities director for its junior/senior high schools. During its regular meeting on Monday, the VCPS School Board voted to hire an activities director to oversee all athletic and non-athletic activities beginning the 2013-2014 school year. Currently, the activities director position is a part-time position held by junior high principal Dan Larson. The school district sponsors 17 different athletic activities in grades seven through 12 and nine non-athletic activities.
