The Valley City Public School District will soon hire a full-time activities director for its junior/senior high schools. During its regular meeting on Monday, the VCPS School Board voted to hire an activities director to oversee all athletic and non-athletic activities beginning the 2013-2014 school year. Currently, the activities director position is a part-time position held by junior high principal Dan Larson. The school district sponsors 17 different athletic activities in grades seven through 12 and nine non-athletic activities.
*Special note: This is a message that Dean Koppelman sent out to the media and the parents of the Valley City School district via email. We thought it was such a good letter that some of you, who arn't on the school email list, would also like to read it.
Thank you, Times-Record Staff
Good evening everyone,
There are times I like to send information from a school board meeting when there are topics of importance to our district. Last night's meeting had several of those topics on the agenda and I would like to share some information with you.
Entering the first day of the 2012 Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, Valley City High School coach Jim McDaniel had his team focus heavily on both fundamentals and staying consistent with them throughout the game.
By the end of the Hi-Liners’ 62-22 tournament opening win over Barnes County North, he was pleased.
“I thought all four quarters, we offensively did what we were supposed to do. We ran our offenses,” McDaniel said. “Defensively, I thought we did a nice job pressuring the ball, making it hard for them to make it for them to get good, easy looks.”
