Miami QB Ryan Tannehill threw 2 second half touchdowns to rally a comeback victory over Buffalo. Buffalo was moving the ball up and down the field early, but could not seem to find the end zone to cap drivers. They clung to a 9-3 lead as they kept Miami in check. Tannehill was able to rally his team’s offense to score 19 unanswered points to seal the game and second place in the AFC East.

No Decision Yet on Drainage for McDonald's Site

The North Dakota Department of Transportation has authorized drainage from a lot where a Valley City McDonald's restaurant has been proposed into a ditch designed for Interstate 94 drainage, but a request for a neighboring lot is still on hold, said John Thompson, district engineer for the Valley City NDDOT office. Churches Fill Thanksgiving Food Baskets

Ninety-one area families in need will get a full Thanksgiving dinner this year, thanks to the efforts of three Valley City churches. Faith Lutheran Church, Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church have teamed up again this year to fill baskets with all the traditional Thanksgiving goodies. More in

Kettle Campaign Starting Soon

The Salvation Army Service Unit of Barnes County is preparing to begin its annual Red Kettle fundraising Campaign the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 28, said Joe Lunde, kettle campaign co-chairman with Phil Leitner. More in Tuesday's issue of the Tmes-Record.

Two Dead in Eckelson, Third Hospitalized

November 18, 2014

Two people died in an Eckelson home Monday and another was hospitalized – the result of a possible propane leak.
According to Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin, authorities responding to the scene to preform a welfare check at the request of a neighbor noticed a strong propane odor before requesting the Sanborn Fire Department secure the scene.
Three people were found inside the home; a man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene and another woman was transported to a Fargo Hospital by Life Flight.

Norbert Kosir, 86, Fargo, ND died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at Villa Maria Care Center, Fargo.
Norbert was born Oct. 31, 1928 near Tower City, ND to Frank and Mary (Prah) Kosir. He attended Springvale Township School in Barnes County. He worked on the family farm and served in the US Marine Corp from 1952 to 1954. Norbert married Marlys Kohler on July 22, 1954 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Oriska, ND. They made their home near Tower City where they farmed until 1984. He then worked for Kohler Farms until retiring in 2005. They moved into Tower City in 1996 and to Fargo in 2007.

Gloria Ruth Schoonover

Gloria Ruth Schoonover, 91, Gackle, ND died early Saturday morning November 15, 2014 in the Wishek Living Center in Wishek, ND.
Gloria Laemmle was born October 2, 1923 at Jordon, MT the daughter of Christian H. Laemmle and Mina (Haux) Laemmle. At an early age they moved to Mandan, ND where she received her elementary education and graduated from High School.

Minn. Standout Signs With VCSU

November 17, 2014

The Valley City State University (N.D.) women's basketball team added more size to its 2015 recruiting class on Thursday.

Viking head coach Jill DeVries announced that Kaitlin Connor, a 6-foot center from Madison, Minn., signed a letter of intent to attend VCSU and play for the Vikings this fall. Connor is entering her senior season at Lac Qui Parle Valley High School.

Valley City State to Face #1 Carroll College in NAIA Football Playoffs

November 17, 2014

The Valley City State University football team will face Carroll College in the first round of the NAIA playoffs, the national office announced Sunday.

VCSU, ranked No. 14 in the country, will play at No. 1-ranked Carroll College on Saturday, Nov. 22. Game time is to be determined. The Vikings are making their eighth NAIA playoff appearance, and fourth playoff appearance under coach Dennis McCulloch.

Cavin Anderson: A Phenom Remembered

November 17, 2014

Between 1968 and 1972, Valley City State University basketball player Cavin Anderson scored 2305 points, clenching the record for career scoring leader, a record he holds to this day. He also held the fourth place record for career rebounds with 822. and the school record for 545 free throws.

Cavin died last week in Waterford City at the age of 64.
