The Viper Squirts hockey team played away on Saturday against Jamestown White and won 14-2.

A Pledge-A-Thon is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Valley City Parks And Recreation Center in an effort to raise up to $4 million for the Valley City Wellness, Health and Physical Education Center.
According to Andrea Nelson of the Sheyenne Valley Foundation, those interested in making a tax-deductible donation toward the center can either stop in or call in pledges to (701) 845-3294.

Woodland Steakhouse Bar and Grill, owned by Dianne and Wade Hatcher, is now open for business, Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It is closed Sundays.
The restaurant, located at 3475 Woodland Park in Valley City, serves steaks, burgers and a sandwich and supper menu to compliment the steaks, Dianne said.
She said a grand opening is tentatively scheduled for January.
Right now, diners have the chance to vote on a name for a buffalo head that will sit above a fireplace on the main floor. The name choices are Sheyenne and Dakota Woodland. Voting ends Dec. 23.
Jefferson Elementary School first-graders rang the bell for the Barnes County Salvation Army for their service project. The project raised $328.76 for the organization.
