LaMoure Beats Strasburg-Zeeland; Will Face South Border Tuesday

District 5 Volleyball Tournament Champion LaMoure began their run at Regionals in Napoleon, N.D. with a 3-0 (25-2, 25-14, 25-22) sweep of District 6 fourth-place Strasburg-Zeeland on Monday night.

UPDATE: Pair Suspected in Church Burglary Arrested in Hillsboro

November 11, 2013

Andrew Miklas, 25,of Valley City, and Nicole Lindermann, 18, of Kathryn, were arrested Friday in Hillsboro, N.D., on charges of possession of stolen property after police found the pair at a local motel with a stolen truck.
Miklas was wanted in Valley City in connection to a burglary at Faith Lutheran Church in early October. Lindermann also faces charges in the church burglary.

Area Veterans, Service Men and Women Recognized at Washington School Program

Many area veterans along with current service men and women were recognized Thursday afternoon at a program at Washington Elementary School. During the presentation, students and other speakers spoke of the importance of veterans and honoring them, while each vet present was recognized for his or her service.

Where Are They Now? Leitner: Politics Is in His Blood

Phil Leitner knew in high school he wanted to be in politics, and 15 years after graduation that hasn't changed.
Since graduating from Valley City High School in 1999, Leitner became a Barnes County Commissioner at 29 and doesn't plan to stop there.

VCPD Swears in New Officer

Andrew Eisenschenk was sworn in Monday by Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven as the Valley City Police Department's newest officer.
Eiscnschenk, a native of St. Cloud, Minn, who joined the VCPD on Nov. 1, was formerly a police officer in Newtown, N.D.

Donations, Volunteers Needed for Community Christmas Eve Dinner

The annual community Christmas Eve dinner, held Tuesday, Dec. 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church dining hall, isn't just for members of the church — it's open to all who would like a traditional holiday feast of ham, turkey and side dishes, and company on Christmas Eve. Volunteers and funds are needed to keep the ritual going for its 42nd year.

Hi-Liners No. 4 in EDC Volleyball Tourney

Lady Hi-Liner volleyball narrowly swept West Fargo, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-23) on Tuesday night to ultimately earn the fourth Eastern Dakota Conference Tournament spot, which guarantees Valley City home matches throughout the double-elimination tournament, when the regular season officially ended Thursday night.
