VC Electric Rates Increase

January 9, 2014

Electric rates will likely go up four percent for customers of Valley City Public Utilities.
During a regular meeting of the Valley City City Commission on Tuesday, Valley City City Administrator David Schelkoph informed the commission that the rate increase would include two percent to make up for the increase in the city's cost for electricity and another two percent to make up for administrative and other costs.

VC Power: Lighten the Load

Power customers on Valley City Public Utilities are asked to conserve electricity for the next several days.
After the loss of a power substation caused a power outage in part of Valley City early Tuesday morning, the city was forced to transfer all of its power demand to one substation.

Casselton: Are We Prepared?

A railroad accident early last week in Casselton, resulting in an evacuation of the city, raised the question: if such an accident happened in or around Valley City, are we prepared?
The short answer: maybe.
Valley City and Casselton, along with several smaller communities in North Dakota face many of the same hazards: natural disasters; rail car accidents and I-94 traffic accidents involving tankers carrying hazardous materials are just a few of the scenarios that could provoke the need for a response from multiple agencies.

Concession Food Expo held for Hi-Liner Booster Club

A concession food expo was held at the Hi-Liner Activity Center (HAC) on Wednesday, Dec. 18 for all Hi-Liner Booster Club Board members, Valley City Public School administrative staff, PTO officers and students. The expo was offered as a way to introduce fast and easy healthy foods and recipes that can be made in a concession stand and will help increase profits.

Richman's 36 Leads Maple Valley Boys over Barnes County North

Maple Valley senior center James Richman scored 36 points — 16 of which came in a 36-point Raider third quarter — to take down Barnes County North, 63-36, in Wimbledon on Tuesday night.

Maple Valley Girls No. 1 Seed in Barnes County Tournament

Back-to-back Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament champion Maple Valley is the top seed in this year's Barnes County Tournament that begins Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Valley City State's W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, VCSU announced Tuesday.
